The program does not work as smooth as I thought. I totally forgot about it because I was kind of busy this week. = ( I worked on the paper and Chapter 10 quiz on Thursday, studied for the test on Friday, and went to whole day volenteer on Saturday and Sunday. I feel bad for this week. The reinforcement are not enough for me. I think I need to add some punishments to my program to make sure that I am actually doing it. I will ask my sister to force me to cook with her, and if I reject by any excuse, she can ask me to do housework for a week, such as wash all dishes, take garbage outside, or hang the clothes out… This positive punishment should be effective because I will not have problem that can not punish myself. My sister will also be glad to ask me to do them if I do not cook on Thursday and Sunday. I will use fixed ratio schedule for positive punishment because it is the most efficient schedule. The other part of program just remains the same. I hope it will work well this time.
This is the 15 great reasons to cook at home.

Having someone else punish is you is a great idea! They have no problem forcing it upon you and then you feel like you don't want to do it, but somehow you always end up doing what they say. Having someone else punish me works for me because I can't force myself to do something undesirable...well sometimes. I hope you make more delicious food!
ReplyDeleteHey Rachel, I think that maybe you just can't fulfill the program because your schedule seems to be so impacted. Maybe you should try planning when you are going to cook so that way you are sure you can actually do it. I agree with Alyanna that having someone else punish you can be very effective, it was actually one of the main criticisms I had about operant conditioning being performed by yourself.
ReplyDeleteHaving someone give the punishment is a good idea. Especially when it is something undesirable and something you were planning to avoid (washing dishes. I hope the new adjustments work for you!
ReplyDeleteHi Rachel, I am having the same trouble with finding time to complete everything. We have so much going on right now. But I agree with you, the point is for the punishments and reinforcers to motivate you into doing it. If they do not, then you have to rethink the strategy. Good Luck! Lisa
